What Customers Say About Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000:

I bought this webcam used and it worked instantly on my MEPIS 8 linux desktops (64bit and 32bit).Skype, Camorama, camstream, and wxcam worked great with zero fiddling.Cheese didn't work but there is probably some gstreamer package that needs to be installed, but I don't need cheese, so no big deal to me.I haven't tried the built microphone as I already use something else.

It has never failed to deliver excellent images, and continues to be compatible with everything I throw at it. I forget how long ago I purchased my Logitech Quickcam Pro 4000, but it has been at least four years. I'm currently using it with new software as a security camera, taking an image every minute, 24/7. It's performance has been flawless for the entire time. Any time I think it has a problem, it turns out to be something else -- software, operating system, whatever. The webcam handles the changing light conditions very well. Thank you Logitech for building a great webcam and supporting it so well.

This webcam lasted one month and died. Don't waste your time or money. This webcam is a piece of JUNK. The Tech Support is horrible. Buy a webcam from another company but not Logitech. They are totally overrated. You know more than they do. The definition for Tech Support at Logitech is No Support.

It did actually work for about five minutes, and then started giving me error messages. It does mention in the specs that it only works with Mac OS X 10.2.6 and below, so I should have known better, but with the glowing reviews and lack of much else that works on a Mac, I figured I'd give it a try. They're right; it doesn't work. It does however work with Maccam software, which is a free download at http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net/. Hurray for those guys.

I just got the camera today and was very excited to try it out--and THERE'S NO SOFTWARE TO INSTALL THE CAMERA FOR MAC. So, I have another useless webcam sitting around my apartment, which I DO NOT need.
